Omega Seamaster Professional

The Omega Seamaster professional series is characterised by its high depth ratings, up to 300m/1000ft, calibrated rotating bezels, chronograph functionality and high visibility dials. Omega have taken this one step further with the launch of the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean series which is water resistance to an amazing 600m/2000ft.

The Omega Seamaster range of watches was first launched in 1948. Back then watches where generally not waterproof or ‘water resistant’ as we now say and emersion in water would almost certainly result in damage to the time piece. The first Omega Seamaster watches where created as ‘waterproof’ dress watches, suitable for swimming or other shallow water activity.

Early Seamaster watches where a far cry from today’s models only having water resistance to depths of between 10 and 30 meters. That said, Omega is considered a pioneer of the water resistant wrist watch and the diver style watches that grew out of these early models.

The 1970s saw development of the Seamaster range split between the traditional dress watch and the heavier, sportier looking divers watch. The range of Seamaster dress watches continues today as part of the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra range while the development of the sportier divers watch culminated in the launch of the Omega Seamaster Professional series.

Watches in the Omega Seamaster Professional series include the Seamaster 300m Chrono Diver, Seamaster 300m Diver Chronometer, Seamaster 300m GMT, Seamaster 300m Racing Chronometer and the Seamaster 300m Quartz.
